Imtiaz Mahmood has more than three decades of experience practising both as a corporate and litigation lawyer in Bangladesh. His areas of practice include Direct Foreign Investment, corporate compliance, international commercial arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution.
Apart from practising as a lawyer, he has also contributed to the feminist movement and struggle for liberty, freedom of speech and rights of indigenous people in Bangladesh through his activism and writing.
In the course of his practice, Imtiaz has advised corporate clients in the private sector. He has acted as both counsel and as arbitrator in international commercial arbitration and local arbitrations.
Apart from his practice as a lawyer, Imtiaz is also an activist and writer. The areas of his activism include human rights generally and in particular rights of women, minority communities and indigenous people of Bangladesh. He is an advocate for freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
His long-standing legal practice and activism puts him in a unique position as a lawyer and writer in Bangladesh.
